Every member we could see
Alberta is the one province on this site where the number is not an estimate. We counted every profile a Canadian member account could see, reading down the list until there was nothing left to read, on 21 September 2026: 176 men. Every other province page on this site scales a sample up to guess at a total; this page does not, because for Alberta we kept going until the list itself ran out.
The account doing the counting was a woman's account seeking men, so the counts describe the men's side. That matters more here than on a sampled province, because a full count does not smooth over its own limits the way an estimate can: whatever the account could and could not see, this whole page inherits.

Our count on 21 September 2026: the newest Canadian profiles SeniorMatch showed a Canadian member account, sorted by join date, read at a human pace. The account was a woman's account seeking men, so the counts describe the men's side.
The chart above comes from a separate, smaller sample: the 499 newest Canadian profiles read on a different day, where Alberta made up 12.4% of everything we saw. Alberta is the one place we went further, reading the full list rather than a slice of it, which is why this page can give a count instead of a rough share.
Two limits are worth stating plainly before anything else. The list only shows what SeniorMatch's own visibility rules choose to show, not an outside-verified population. The gallery itself only surfaces members active within roughly 180 days; the quietest Alberta profile we found had last been active 180 days before we counted, right at that edge, so a member who went quiet earlier than that would never have appeared on the list at all. Being a full count rather than a sample also lets it check a number used elsewhere on this site: scaling the rest of the country from Alberta's count alone points to about 1,417 Canadian members, close to the 1,450 estimated from the smaller day-to-day sample used for every other province. Two different methods landing in the same neighbourhood is a real check on both, not a coincidence to wave away.

Calgary, Edmonton and the rest
Calgary and Edmonton between them account for 55.1% of every Alberta member on the full list: 58 in Calgary, 39 in Edmonton. After those two, the list drops off fast: 8 members named Red Deer, 5 named Beaumont, 5 named Lethbridge, and 4 named Sherwood Park.
Even those four smaller cities together do not come close to matching Calgary or Edmonton on their own, and the rest of Alberta's 176 members live in towns too small to make a six-city list at all. If you are in Red Deer rather than Calgary or Edmonton, you are not an edge case; you are simply one of the members this list groups into the rest of the province instead of naming by city.

How many are active
Of the 176 Alberta members on the full list, 50 had been active within the last 30 days, 28.4%, and 20 within the last 7 days, 11.4%. Put plainly, fewer than three in ten Alberta members we counted had opened the site in the past month.
That is a different picture from the newest-profile sample used across the rest of this site, where 57.1% of the newest arrivals nationally had been active in the last 30 days. New members log in more; a full list, read down to its oldest and quietest entries, does not. Both figures are true at once. The newest people to join Alberta are probably still checking the site often, and Alberta's full membership, including everyone who joined months ago and has since drifted off, mostly is not.
Tomorrow: before messaging someone in Alberta, check how the profile turned up in your search. A member surfaced by a newest or recently active sort is far more likely to actually read a message than one found by scrolling the full list end to end.
Ages, Premium and verified photos
The median age across Alberta's full list is 65. Among just the newest Alberta profiles in the separate sample used elsewhere on this site, the median ran a little higher, 67.5, though that smaller sample moves more from day to day than a full count does.
Photo verification is more common in Alberta than in the national newest-profile sample: 50.0% of Alberta's full list carries SeniorMatch's verified badge, against 34.7% nationally. SeniorMatch describes the check itself as a short selfie video compared with the member's profile photos, to confirm the account is used by the person shown. That confirms the person behind an account looks like their photos and nothing more: it is not a background check, and SeniorMatch does not run one. A verified badge is a reason to trust a photo a little further, not a reason to stop reading the rest of a profile.
Premium is rarer: 9.1% of Alberta's full list carried a Premium badge, a small slice of an already small active pool, worth knowing before you count on a quick reply from everyone you message.
Tomorrow: treat the verified badge and the Premium badge as two separate signals, not one. A verified photo says nothing about whether an account pays for Premium, and a Premium badge says nothing about whether its photo has been checked.
What that means for you
Put the two most useful numbers next to each other. In a given month, about 50 Alberta men on the full list had actually been active, out of 176 total. 58 of Alberta's members list Calgary as home, but that is Calgary's full count, not how many of those 58 were active that month; activity is only ever available for the province as a whole, never broken out city by city. Treat the city figures on this page as where people say they live, not as a promise of who is online this week.
Given how thin the active slice actually is, patience matters more than speed in Alberta. A free profile lets you see the whole list, including who carries a verified photo and roughly how the names split between Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer, before you spend anything. Decide how long to pay for only once you know how many of the people you would actually want to message are both nearby and still checking in, not from the size of the full list alone.

Searching Alberta
SeniorMatch's Location filter works the same way in Alberta as anywhere else on the site: it defaults to Anywhere, which pulls in members from any province, not just your own. Open the search filters, change Location to Living in, then choose Canada and Alberta, and results narrow to people who put Alberta on their own profile.
That switch matters more here than it might in a smaller province, because Alberta is not one neighbourhood. Calgary and Edmonton are the two places most Alberta members name, and they sit far enough apart that a search built around one says little about who is near the other. If you live near Calgary, a province-wide Alberta search will still surface Edmonton results that are nowhere close to you, so treat Alberta as a starting filter, not a finished one, and narrow further once you can see how the results are actually spread out.
