The short answer
On the day we read them, SeniorMatch rated 3.3 of 5 on the Canadian App Store, 2.8 on Google Play and 1.4 on Trustpilot. Most complaints are about who shows up in search, and part of that is a setting.

The ratings themselves
SeniorMatch's own review scores are not close to strong on any of the three places a Canadian member is likely to see them. The Canadian App Store, checked 24 September 2026, puts it at 3.3 out of five from 76 ratings. Google Play Canada, checked the same day, shows 2.8 out of five from 1,871 reviews against 500K+ downloads of the Android app. Trustpilot is the harshest of the three: 1.4 out of five from 56 reviews, with 82% of those sitting at one star, the lowest score the platform allows.
A store rating is a self-selected number: a member who had an ordinary, unremarkable time mostly doesn't stop to leave one, so any dating site's score tends to skew toward whoever felt strongly enough to write. What makes SeniorMatch's numbers harder to wave off is that three platforms, with different companies and different reviewer bases behind them, land in roughly the same low place. No single one of the three proves anything on its own; the fact that all three agree is the reason this page exists. Tomorrow, open the three stores' SeniorMatch pages yourself and sort the reviews by Most Recent; the picture shifts once you look at the dates instead of just the average.
What the complaints are about
Read together, the one-star reviews across all three platforms sort into a handful of repeated causes rather than one single problem. Distance comes up often: a Trustpilot review from 28 Apr 2026 puts it this way: "They tell you there are matches in your area, there isn't. Most men are very far away and have awful profiles." Billing comes up too: a Trustpilot review from 4 Sep 2026 describes being charged twice for the same join: "I got charged twice. First on my credit card, then again on my credit card through Apple." And fake profiles are named directly: a Trustpilot review flagged with a Canadian country marker, last updated 21 Jul 2026, states, "Do not use SeniorMatch. Lots of fake profiles and when you try to delete your account it goes to Premium subscriptions."
We are not going to soften any of that. These excerpts come from different reviewers, different dates and different problems, not one repeated complaint, and we read them the way we read everything else on this page: with the store, the star rating and the date attached, so you can weigh the source yourself rather than take our summary of it. The sections below take each cause in turn, along with what, if anything, a Canadian member can do about it.
Nobody nearby
The distance complaint quoted above is a common one: matches advertised as close by turn out to live provinces away, and the search results read as thin no matter how far a reviewer scrolls. Some of that is a setting, not a fact about who has joined. SeniorMatch's Location filter is a two-way choice, Anywhere or Living in; a fresh account starts on Anywhere, which searches the whole site rather than any one country, so a member who never touches that setting is comparing themselves against a worldwide pool by default. Switching Location to Living in, then choosing Canada and a province, narrows the results to people who are actually reachable. SeniorMatch doesn't publish a default search radius anywhere we could find, so we can't say how wide "nearby" is meant to be; we can only say that leaving Location on Anywhere is the more common reason the site feels emptier than it is.
That said, some provinces genuinely have few members, and no filter changes that. We counted these all the way to the end of the list, not just the newest sample, from a woman's account, so the figures describe the men's side: Nova Scotia held 47 members in total, and 25.5% of them had signed in within the past 30 days; New Brunswick held 22, with 36.4% active in the same window. Numbers that size are a real reason search results can look thin in a smaller province. That is a small population, not a filter problem, and the count above is the honest picture of it. Before paying, the province-by-province numbers are a faster way to check your own province than judging by a single review.
Mostly Americans
Seeing mostly Americans is almost always the Location setting, not the membership: with Living in set to Canada, we read the newest 499 Canadian profiles, the men's side of our count, instead of the international mix Anywhere shows. A one-star French-language review on the Canadian App Store, from 22 Aug 2026, titled about the site being mostly American, reads: "Impossible de choisir la provenance de quelqu'un" In English, that line says: "Can't choose where someone is from" The setting behind that complaint is the same Location filter, Anywhere or Living in on the Basics tab.
Why this reviewer didn't narrow the search is not something we can know: the picker may not have been obvious, the results may have still leaned American even inside Canada, or something else got in the way. What the setting does explain is why a Canadian search can read as mostly American in the first place, and switching it costs nothing.
Billing, verification and support
Two of the complaints we read are about money changing hands more than once, or in a way the reviewer did not expect. Part of the reason is structural: SeniorMatch's own terms say Subscriptions renew automatically for the same length until the member cancels, so an account that is never actively cancelled keeps billing on its own schedule. The double-charge review quoted above, from 4 Sep 2026, describes being billed on a credit card directly and then again through Apple for what the reviewer treated as the same join. A separate Trustpilot review, last updated 21 Jul 2026 and flagged with a Canadian country marker, says that trying to delete an account routed them toward Premium subscriptions instead of closing it outright. SeniorMatch's service agreement is specific about the refund window: "you may cancel a subscription within three (3) business days of subscribing to our Service to receive a refund by notifying us through the contact information provided below." Outside those 3 business days, the same document says the charge stands. Stopping a subscription from renewing again, rather than getting the current charge back, means following the route at Settings > Subscriptions > click "Your membership will automatically renew until you cancel your subscription by clicking here" > CONTINUE MANAGEMENT on the website, or Settings app > your name > Subscriptions > the subscription > Cancel Subscription for anything bought through the App Store.
A third complaint concerns photo verification. Verification was announced for all members from 2025-04-14; not confirmed as enforced. Only 34.7% of the newest profiles we counted, the men's side of that count, actually carried the badge, so checking for that badge before trusting a profile is a more reliable filter than assuming everyone is verified. One Trustpilot review from 28 Jun 2026 says their own profile was only checked after they had already paid: "Validating profiles (Mine only after payment) but they were so sorry it happened that way." We weren't able to confirm whether that's how verification works for every account today, only that it is what this reviewer experienced. If billing or account questions come up, SeniorMatch's own contact points are the ones the site itself lists: members can reach support through the public Help and FAQ page's Contact Support link, a support email address, and two phone numbers, one direct and one toll-free; the account also shows 24/7 live chat once logged in.
Read the reviews yourself
Everything above is a small selection, five excerpts out of 76 App Store ratings, 1871 Google Play reviews and 56 Trustpilot reviews, chosen because each was specific and stood for a repeated theme, not because it was the harshest line available. We kept every excerpt short and left out reviewer names, since none of the three platforms consistently show one. The totals above were all checked 24 September 2026; ratings move as new reviews arrive, so a page read next month may show different figures than the ones printed here.
The most direct way to judge SeniorMatch is still to read the current reviews on the Canadian App Store, Google Play or Trustpilot in full and in their own words, rather than take this page's summary of them. A free SeniorMatch account costs nothing and shows you the same site the reviewers are describing, which is a more direct test than any star rating.
Questions people ask
Are SeniorMatch reviews good?
Its own review scores say not especially. On the Canadian App Store it holds 3.3 out of five from 76 ratings, checked 24 September 2026; on Google Play Canada it holds 2.8 out of five from 1,871 reviews; on Trustpilot it holds 1.4 out of five, with 82% of its 56 reviews sitting at one star. A free account costs nothing, so the fastest way to judge it is to look yourself rather than take either the stores' word or this page's.
Why do people say there is nobody near them on SeniorMatch?
Distance is one of the more common complaints. One Trustpilot reviewer wrote, "They tell you there are matches in your area, there isn't. Most men are very far away and have awful profiles." SeniorMatch's search defaults to Anywhere, which shows the whole site; switching Location to Living in, then choosing Canada and a province, narrows results to people actually nearby. Some of the thinness is real too, not just a setting: a few provinces genuinely have small counts. SeniorMatch never states a mile or kilometer figure for what counts as nearby, so we can't put a number on that part; what we can confirm is that switching the setting changes the results right away.
Is SeniorMatch full of Americans?
Not once the Location filter is set to Canada. A one-star French-language App Store review from 22 Aug 2026 complains about exactly this; in English, the line reads, "Can't choose where someone is from" SeniorMatch's Location filter defaults to Anywhere, which searches the whole site; setting it to Living in and choosing Canada is what limits results to Canadian members. With that setting on, we read the newest 499 Canadian profiles, the men's side of our count, rather than an international mix.
Do members complain about SeniorMatch billing?
Yes, more than one kind. One Trustpilot reviewer describes being billed twice for the same subscription: "I got charged twice. First on my credit card, then again on my credit card through Apple." A separate review, flagged with a Canadian country marker, says cancelling routed them toward Premium subscriptions instead of closing the account outright. SeniorMatch's service agreement allows a refund only within 3 business days of subscribing; past that window the agreement states the charge stands, and cancelling only stops the next renewal, following the route at Settings > Subscriptions > click "Your membership will automatically renew until you cancel your subscription by clicking here" > CONTINUE MANAGEMENT.
How do I contact SeniorMatch support?
SeniorMatch itself lists members can reach support through the public Help and FAQ page's Contact Support link, a support email address, and two phone numbers, one direct and one toll-free; the account also shows 24/7 live chat once logged in, all reachable from its own Help and FAQ page at https://www.seniormatch.com/faq.
Is SeniorMatch worth it in Canada?
That depends more on your own province than on the review scores above. Looking costs nothing: a free account can register, browse and reply to anyone who writes first, which is enough to see who is actually nearby and active before paying anything. Among the newest 499 Canadian profiles we counted on 21 September 2026, the men's side of that count, 57.1% had signed in within the past 30 days, a reasonable sign of a living pool nationally, even with the ratings sitting as low as they do.
